IAMSLIC Union List of Serials |
Participant Libraries Area - add and manage your library holdings.
Libraries wishing to participate by adding their holdings to the Union List will need to request authorization for access to this capability.
The Union List is NOT a document delivery service for individuals who are seeking to obtain copies of articles; individuals should contact the interlibrary loan office in their institution's library.
At the Spring 1997 Cyamus Workshop in La Paz, it was decided that a two-pronged approach should be tried to revive the union list. Those libraries who could readily produce a text file of their serial holdings, with the serial title as the first element of each record, could submit such files to Joe Wible at Hopkins Marine Station for inclusion in the searchable version of the union list. Those libraries who could not supply their lists in that format could use this site to enter their holdings for titles in their collections, to be combined later in a single searchable index to records in both formats.
In summer of 2000, the platform supporting the Union List was upgraded to enable better management of records by participating libraries. It no longer relies on static HTML pages for each journal title. Libraries who are interested in joining the union list project should contact Steve Watkins at the address below. Z39.50 access to the union list has been incorporated into the IAMSLIC Z39.50 Distributed Library project hosted by California State University, Monterey Bay.
The list of serials contained here was derived from the list of source journals for Aquatic Sciences & Fisheries Abstracts as a starting point. Libraries may also submit additional serial titles to be added to the database, along with their holdings data. In this fashion, it is hoped that a more comprehensive listing of marine and aquatic sciences serials will develop, along with information on owning libraries and their lending practices.
